APPLICATIONS: Get more out of your flavours: NHDC modifies and enhances flavours at extremely low concentrations. Even at concentrations at which there is no significant contribution to sweetness; both a supra- and sub- threshold addition. In fruit drinks the fruitier notes and some of the more subtle favours are enhanced, while acid notes are subdued. The flavours of boiled candies, jellies and yoghurts, nougat, chocolate and vanilla are also enhanced by NHDC. Put body into your products: At very low levels, NHDC can contribute to the mouthfeel and body of your product. Low calorie soft drinks incorporating low levels of NHDC have improved mouthfeel over those without it. This attribute is not limited to soft drinks; the mouthfeel of sauces, ketchup and even mayonnaise can benefit from small amounts of NHDC. Synergistic effect: NHDC used in combination with other high intensity sweeteners has marked synergistic effect, resulting consequently in cost savings. Savings of up to 10% have been noted on the sweeteners used. Although NHDC is more expensive than other intense sweeteners, it offers significant cost savings, because only a few ppm replaces tens of ppm of the other sweeteners. Some typical examples of appropiate blends (%) Acesulfame-K Aspartame Cyclamate Saccharin NHDC 94 - 97 3 - 6 90 - 97 3 - 10 90 10 98 - 99 1 - 2 26 59 12 3 50 47 3 28 70 2 64 30 6 26 59 12 3 Delayed and prolonging sweetness: This special characteristics is essential in products where longer sweetness and flavours are desirable (chewing gum). Blending with other intense sweeteners: NHDC rounds the sweetness profile, creating a profile quality more like that of sucrose. The aftertaste associated with aspartame, metallic aftertaste of saccarin and bitterness of acesulfame-K are all reduced. USES: Soft drinks: Soft drinks enhances fruitiness and mouthfeel as well as providing sweetness and cost reduction. To give you an example: lemon drinks often undergo during storage a deterioration of the flavour due to the breakdown of the flavour components. Here NHDC is the solution to mask the unpleasant taste and to improve the flavour, extending so the shelflife of the products with regards to the flavour profile. If you have a hot chocolate drink that is very watery you can with NHDC improve the drink in a much more creamy taste and at the same time you are masking the bitterness of the chocolate. Artificial sweeteners are used in flavoured waters that are flavoured with natural flavours. Here NHDC improves these drinks by masking the aftertastes of the sweeteners and gives body to the flavoured water. NHDC should therefore not fail in multi vitamin fruit drinks. Typical examples: Fruit drinks, carbonated drinks, still drinks, powdered drink concentrates, syrups, sport drinks, dark sweet beer, ice tea, grapefruit juice, cola drink, citrus drink. Dosage levels: As sweetener: 10 - 30 ppm As Flavour enhancer: 1-5 ppm Chewing gum: NHDC extends the flavour duration compared to other high intensity sweeteners. So it is also desired in mouthwashes and toothpastes. Dosage levels: As sweetener in chewing gum: 400 ppm As Flavour enhancer: 1-5 ppm Dairy products & desserts: Yoghurts and other dairy products enhances creaminess, mouthfeel and fruit flavours. Typical examples: Dairy products, ice creams, sorbets, puddings, dry fruits, marmalade, spreads, jams, jelly, cider, fruit preserves, bakery. Dosage levels: As sweetener: 10 - 35 ppm As Flavour enhancer: 1 - 5 ppm Confectionery: Enhances the sweetness and flavour profiles of polyols in boiled sweets enabling cost savings and flavour enhancement of sugar free sweets. Typical examples: Biscuits, noodles, dietary preparations, cakes, toppings, low calorie food. Dosage levels: As sweetener: 15 - 50 ppm As Flavour enhancer: 1 - 5 ppm Spice flavours: It has been shown to enhance spice flavours in a variety of savoury products at extremely low usage levels. So it has proven its effectiveness in savoury seafood dressing. Typical examples: Sauces, savoury coatings, marinades, processed meats, sauces, dressings, spices, herb mixes, soups, low salt formulations, snacks, snack dustings, low fat products, canned foods, custards and also in cereal bars, dehydrated products, paté, condiments, fish, meat preserves and ready meals. Dosage levels: As Flavour enhancer: 1-5 ppm Pharmaceutical industry: NHDC is an excellent product for use in pharmaceuticals that show a bitter taste, since it has the capability to mask perfectly the bitter aftertaste in these products. Further on in mixture with table top sweeteners and in vitamin preparations. Dosage levels: As sweetener: 10 - 30 ppm As Flavour enhancer: 1-5 ppm Animal Feed Industry: NHDC improves the organoleptic properties and palatability of animal feed and pet foods. Its ability to mask unpleasant tastes and to improve the taste quality of saccharin sweetened feedstuffs at ver low levels, even below 1 ppm, makes it an excellent flavour enhancer for the animal feed industry, increasing so the daily feed consumption and consequently decreasing the feeding time. Typical examples: Pet foods, veterinary products, vitamin and minaral preparations, feedstuffs for farm animals, and special feedstuff for young animals. Dosage levels: As Flavour enhancer: 1-5 ppm |
